DwD’s creation came from the Gospel, according to Matthew 3:16.

“And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.”

This passage reminds me that we need each other to fulfill God’s purpose in our lives. And when we do our part, God will do the rest. Hence, we are doves, the symbolism of the Holy Spirit within us, with destiny, fulfilling our purpose here on earth.

On August 13, 2011, the vision for Doves with Destiny, LLC, was born and was later formed by the State of Virginia on September 13, 2011. However, despite my being a woman of faith, I was fearful of starting my own business. Since I didn’t know how it was going to evolve, I became petrified that meant I had to leave my career (my bread and butter) to launch into the deep seas.

Meanwhile, I was dealing with several health challenges, which forced me to question my purpose. Hence, I’ve since realized this was all a part of my preparation. Besides my academic and professional careers, my experience for the past nine years taught me the importance of having God in my life, a coach, and a mentor.  Believing in myself and leaving room for improvement without getting off track are the keys to staying focused as I discover and learn my purpose.

Even though I struggled in moving forward with my calling, I did not stop the business’s devising phase. I learned that faith without works is genuinely a scripture to live by and not just a repetitive cliché. On April 9, 2020, I officially virtually launched my business to the world. I am reminded a delay is not a denial, and everything happens in its timing.

Most importantly, I am not alone in my experience. There are others like myself that will experience similar scenarios, and it is my purpose in life to equip and assist others, one step at a time in finding their purpose.
